As unique individuals we reserve the right to moderate our own personal page, which at PEN it is called, "My Work Room" as well as blogs submitted as "Poems". In addition, we understand that to critique a poets work or a person may not protect one's dignity as he or she may be in process of searching their own self awareness. For this reason, our comments made to another person's literary work is made toward better understanding of one's self as well as appreciation toward the poets work. Should a critique be warranted, and would like to be helpful, to the other, it is advised this is done so by private message. In offering critique toward literary structure; it behooves us to ask the question, WHY, the poet offered a poem that is a departure from purity. "Poetry aspires to purity; poems do not" ~~~Robert Penn Warren

Poet Expression Network or PEN is a community of poets who recognize the powerful use of chosen words that encourage insight or beauty of expression without damnation within our chosen work or to other poets. Our poems are literary composition written with intention, integrity, intensity or beauty of language more characteristic of poetry than of prose, though both are welcomed and encouraged. WE ARE............

Who is She (The Bride)

Who is she  arrayed in glistening white -  wearing a crown, full of strength and might. Who is she  whose fragrance is sweet -  like a garden of spices, mature and complete. Who is she  whose fruit is much -  willing to yield,to the Master's Touch. Who is she  who has suffered loss -  is willing to die,and counted the cost. Who is she  in whom no spot is found -  without blemish or wrinkle, whose doctrine is sound. Who is she  whose life is a spring -  a fountain of refreshing,to others she'll…See More

An Abecedarian by Harver Tomsson

Persuading Myself  by Harver Tomsson A friend asked me to try this new thingBut I was busy, self absorbed,Caught up in my own prioritiesDidn’t take time, didn’t make timeEven for the briefest hour. Failing the test my friend interjected,Honestly, it was a bit discomfiting;I thought off and on of how I stalledJust to avoid that foreign task. Liking myself a little bit lessMaking up excuses, even I wouldn’t believe,Not in a million yearsOn a stack of my ancestor’s Bibles. Perhaps, part of…See More

Triumph in Christ (2 Cor 2:14)

We triumph in Christ -  the battle is won.He ended the war,  we overcome! We triumph in Christ -  His victory's complete. The enemy has lost,  and suffered defeat! We triumph in Christ -  over satan's vast throng. The Word is our sword,  the Spirit makes strong! We triumph in Christ -  we're seated on high."In heavenly places"  our triumphant cry! We triumph in Christ -  dependent and still.Seeing His vicotry,  doing His Will! We triumph in Christ -a fragrance that's sweet. An aroma of Christ,  to…See More

Abecedarians

The abecedarian is a very old poetic form. Some of the earliest examples are found in Hebrew poetry.  The way it works is each line or stanza begins with a successive letter of the alphabet beginning with whatever passes for "a" in that languages alphabet. Psalm 119, the longest of the Psalms uses this form. It's also popular with children's authors like Dr. Suess in books designed to teach the letters of the alphabet to kids.  In ancient times it was used for sacred compositions like prayers,…See More

Fresh Powder

By Tom King (c) 2012 A Texas boy, I’ve never seen   Fresh powder, soft, nearly dryIt kicks up on my boot toes   As I pass shuffle-footed alongside the dogTwo pair of footprints and a row of holes   Where my cane punctures the pristine sheet of snow. It’s night now – me and the dog   Lookin’ for a place to pee. She’s…See More
